Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, health care, and service seeks applicants for an open track appointment in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery beginning immediately. The position is offered at open rank, appointment level commensurate with academic accomplishment.
This clinicallyâ"oriented, full time position emphasizes sports psychology services as part of our Orthopaedic Sports Medicine program and offers the opportunity to see patients on an outpatient basis. Responsibilities will include:
ï· â" Provide brief interventions and psychotherapy to address a range of psychological problems including problematic adjustment to injury, depression, anxiety, sleep concerns, disordered eating patterns, and substance use problems.
ï· â" Collaborate and consult with Saint Louis University athletic department staff members and/or sports personnel in order to improve patientâs post-injury return to sport experience.
ï· â" Conduct individual performance enhancement training, individual biofeedback assessment and training, comprehensive sport focused assessments (teams and individuals), team interventions, and specialty workshops upon request.
Based at the Health Sciences Center campus, all faculty have ample opportunity to be involved in teaching medical students, orthopaedic surgery residents, and students in the psychology department. Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology with specialized education and training in clinical sport psychology from an APA -accredited clinical or counseling psychology doctoral program is required by appointment start date. Demonstrated academic record of excellence in patient care, teaching, and research is desirable. Must be legally authorized to work in the USA .
