This position is in the Department of Surgery, Acute and Critical Care. This position is for the Medical School Campus.

Essential Functions

POSITION SUMMARY:
Position provides direct patient care and education for patients receiving treatments, examinations, surgeries involving wound care in a medical office according to established procedures.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Utilizes the nursing process in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating a plan of patient care.

2. Directs and/or provides patient care which may include administering medication, performing! procedures and monitoring patient status in accordance with a! pproved nursing practice.

3. Provides appropriate counsel and education to patients/family regarding disease process and symptom management.

4. Maintains medical records requiring appropriate and timely recording of patient information.

5. Consults with members of the health care team adjusting nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

6. Demonstrates cost effective work habits by setting priorities and properly managing supplies and equipment.

7. Proficient in electronic data entry and database management (i.e.MS Excel, MS Access, and REDCap)

8. Assists the health care provider with examinations, procedures, prescription refills and other processes related to direct patient care.

9. Participates in quality improvement activities (including research projects) to ensure appropriate clinical outcome.

10. Maintains required skills and competencies and participates in education! al programs, staff meetings and inservices such as CPR as required.

11. Other duties as outlined in specialty specific job responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited nursing program

Current Missouri RN licensure in accordance with Compact Act; Basic Life Support certification

Preferred Qualifications

1 year related experience preferred

Working knowledge of general nursing theory and practice with ability to recognize and interpret symptoms/conditions and ability to function in new and emergent situations.

Salary Range

Market driven compensation based upon experience.
