Interviews incoming patient or representative and enters information required for admission into computer by performing the duties listed below.
SUPERVISORY RESP! ONSIBILITIES:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide exceptional service and/or care to all patients, customers and team members.
- Interviews patient or representative to obtain and record name, address, age, religion, persons to notify in case of emergency, attending Physician, and individual or insurance company responsible for payment of bill.
- Explains hospital regulations such as visiting hours, payment of accounts etc.
- Escorts patient or arranges for escort to assigned room or ward.
- Enters patient admitting information into computer and routes printed copy to designated department.
- Obtains signed consents and other required forms from patient and/or patientâs legal designee.
- Assigns patient to service area.
- Compiles data for occupancy and census records.
- Receives payments on account.
- Assures accurac! y of a clean claim.
- Operates hospital switchboard.
- Prints daily surgery and ancillary schedules to ensure patient goes to correct department at the appointed time.
- Obtain legal and correct physician order.
- Provide information to the general public as needed.
- Perform other duties as required.

Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Three to six months related experience and/or training preferred.
- CHAA (Certified Healthcare Access Associate) prefer! red
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Good telephone skills and ability to operate switchboard.
- Must have basic computer skills including typing 40 wpm accurately.
- Exceptional customer service skills, ability to multitask, ability to work under time .restraints and in highly stressful situations.
- Knowledgeable of Federal and State Hospital Regulations.
- Prompt and regular attendance according to policy.
- Comply with dress code and appearance standards.
- Interact with patients, customers, the general public, management, and team members in a professional, courteous, and tactful manner.
- Work with integrity, uphold CoxHealthâs mission, values, and maintain confidentiality in all situations.
- Follow safety & security policies & procedures, immediately report suspicious activities and unsa! fe conditions. Use equipment, tools & materials properly.
- Part! icipate in all mandatory job training and meetings as directed which may include overnight travel and extended stays as applicable.
