KEY REQUIREMENTS

Must pass pre-employment examination.

Designated and/or Random Drug Testing required.

Background and/or Security Investigation required.

DUTIES:
We
are seeking a board certified or board eligible Gastroenterologist

with expertise in
gastrointestinal motility specifically high-resolution manometry, Smart Pill
testing, anorectal motility, etc. and related procedures such as pneumatic for
achalasia.

Required
experience in treatment and pathogenesis of gastrointestinal cancers will be
required. The physician provides attendance on the GI consult service,
providing comprehensive co! nsultative support to all inpatient
services. The physician also se! es continuity and referral of
Gastroenterology patients scheduled days during the week in the Medical Center
and other Specialty Medicine Clinics, and attends the FellowsÂ' Clinic, which is
required. For those patients with sole Gastroenterology concerns and
disease, the physician may serve as the primary physician.
Affiliation with the University of Kansas, School of Medicine or the University
of Missouri is required. The physician provides educational
training for Gastroenterology Fellow and Resident physicians.
Administrative duties could include sectional, Medical Subspecialty Care
service responsibilities, along with serving on hospital and University
affiliated committees. The preferred applicant should have interest in biomaker research and proven record in securing funding for biomaker research. The physician may also be assigned other
administrative or managerial responsibilities through participation in
clinical, edu! cational, and research service, task group or special project
groups and quality management/quality of care responsibilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Light lifting (under 15 lbs), light carrying (under 15 lbs), use of fingers, far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and 20/40 in the other, hearing (aid permitted), emotional stability, mental stability, working closely with others, working alone, and working with biohazardous materials.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
In
order to qualify for this position you must meet the following:

Basic Requirements

:

Must be
proficient in written and spoken English.

Degree of doctor of medicine
or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine
or osteopathic medicine.

Current, full and
unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State,
Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the D! istrict of
Columbia.

II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard.
