English Language Proficiency required. DUTIES:
The selected individual would work in the CLC 0.5FTE and Geri-PACT 0.5 FTE doing geriatrics consultations and longitudinal primary care for a geriatric population with complex clinical needs and geriatric syndromes. The CLC includes skilled care, palliative care and hospice as well as a geriatric evaluation and management Unit. The individual will be expected to perform clinical care of older patients with multiple compl! ex health problems in a long-term care setting and supervise/teach Nurse Practitioners, geriatrics fellows, medical residents and trainees in other health-related disciplines. The individual may be expected to cross-cover Home & Community Based/HBPC patients, when needed. The individual is expected to collaborate with the Associate Chief of Staff and Medical Director in maintaining quality assurance activities, and limited administrative needs in the Community Living Center (a skilled nursing and rehabilitation Facility in a long term care setting). The incumbent must be able to work collaboratively with other healthcare disciplines, especially nursing. Experience in a skilled long term care setting as well as out-patient Clinics taking care of a predominantly geriatric population is required. On-call responsibilities in the Community Living Center will be proportionally shared with other full-time physicians in the Service.

T our of Duty is Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. However, physicians are on call 24/7. On Call dutes ! in the Community Living Center will be shared with other full-time physicians.

Travel & Relocation Expenses: Travel & Relocation expenses are not authorized for this position.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Citizen of the United States or authorization to work in the United States.
Degree of doctor of medicine or equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full, unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, ore in the District of Columbia.Completion of a three year PM&R residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed.
Must pass a pre-employment physical, ! which may include drug testing.
Must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d).

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Board Certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine is required.
Board Eligibility or Certification in Geriatrics or Palliative Medicine is required.
Must be qualified for a faculty appointment at the Assistant Professor level or higher at a University.
Must be cleared through Special Agency Check and National Agency Check with Inquiry.

GRADE DETERMINATIONS:
Salary determination is conducted by compensation panel based on qualification per VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G2.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The Physical requirements of this position include the following tasks which may be performed intermittently: lifting of up to 10 lbs., sitting (4 hours), standing (2 hours), walking (2 hours), bending/stooping (1 hour), twisting (1/2 hour), sim! ple grasping (4 hours), fine manipulation (6 hours), reaching above the! shoulder (1/2 hour), and operating machinery (1/2 hour).
