This position is in the Department of Surgery. The position is located at the Medical School Campus.

Essential Functions

POSITION SUMMARY:
Position coordinates contracts, budgets, grants management, information systems and administration for department, and assists with other aspects of department management. Specifically, this position will be part of the Department of Surgery’s Gifts and Grants team and will manage research funding from beginning to end: pre-award, applications, awards, budgets, expense management, reporting, and close-out. This position will be responsible for specific divisions/sections within Surgery and will work closely with principal investigators.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervises overall grant/account management, ensuring charges are appropriate and are following established agency/university guidelines, and monitors related financial activity.
  • !
  • Assists staff and faculty/fellows with completion of contr! acts, budgets, and grants, preparing and verifying accuracy/detail of final application, budget, and related information.
  • Tracks budget and grant through submission, committee and agency approval processes, alerting administrative office to new funding and related developments.
  • Maintains master plan/operating files, advising staff of indirect costs or shortages, grant variations, etc.
  • Generates financial reports using Focus/FIS, such as expenditures, department accounts, PAR authorizations, etc., reviewing account profile changes.
  • Prepares strategic plan documents, PI income/expense reports, and A21 compliance related materials.
  • Maintains grant agency files/information.
  • Conducts funding searches, assisting staff with necessary applications.
Required Qualifications

Equivalent of Bachelor’s degree in accounting with related experience in grants administration, spreadsheets, and scientific terminology.!

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with Washington University systems, including PDS, AIS, and HRMS, as well as with Adobe and Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience in applying for and managing grants. Working ability to develop financial reports and analyze numerical/statistical data with flexibility to meet multiple priorities/deadlines as necessary. Clinical trial experience.

Salary Range

The hiring range for this position is $38,147 to $48,630 annually.
