Surgical Services Manager serves as a key clinical leader responsible for directing the operational, financial and human resource management of the operating rooms, pre and post op unit, and central sterile units at Progress West HealthCare Center. This position cultivates trusting relationships between surgeons, anesthesiologists, staff, and hospital administration. Responsibility includes the ongoing clinical and business development of the service line, promoting competitive growth. The position collaborates with other clinical areas and the Surgical Services at Progress West HealthCare Center to ensure exceptional clinical outcomes, preserving an outstanding (above top decile) patient experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborates and establishes key relationships with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and service line team members and administrative staff to plan, assess and revise goals and strategies related to business development and cost management
- Participates in near- and long-term planning for the surgical service line by deploying the St. Charles Goal Deployment Process (GDP)
- Participates in hospital-wide initiatives related to safety, courtesy, employee expertise and engagement, and efficiency
- Creates and manages a successful operational budget that is developed with strong business instincts for growth, quality and financial performance.
- Operates the service line toward greater efficiency in scheduling, turnaround time, supply costs, and labor management, championing continuous performance improvement and Lean processes
- Integrates service line with hospitalsâ structures by working cooperatively with department leaders to design a coordinated service for patients and families
- Develops and ensures compliance with procedural protocols, including Universal Protocols and other consistent standard operating procedures
- Promotes staff engagement, ensures accountability among staff and operates as a visible leader for the department and hospitals
Education, training, experience:
Requirements:
- Associates Degree from an Accredited Nursing (RN) Program
- Current RN or Temporary Permit in Missouri
- Management experience - 3 years or more
- Bachelorâs Degree BSN
- Current Basic Cardiovascular Life Support (BLS) Certification
