Job Summary
Busy outpatient Interventional Pain Management practice located in North St. Louis County is looking for a Front Desk Receptionist with scheduling experience. Greeting patients, collecting copays, scheduling new patient appointments, follow up visits, procedures and surgeries will be the candidate's primary responsibility. Candidates must have excellent interpersonal, organization and follow-up skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously.
The candidate must be reliable, punctual and professional with excellent communication skills. We are looking for a bright, motivated, conscientious, hardworking individual with a positive and energetic attitude. Cross training for back office and front office duties will be required. Typical clinic hours are Monday-Thursday 7:30am-4pm and Friday 7:30am-2pm. Medical insurance is available for full time employees. Job Responsibilities Include:
-The medical recptionist is responsible for the processing of patients for registration, appointments and check out. Excellent communication skills are required.
-Scheduling appointments for office visits and procedures.
-Answers phones and handles calls in an efficient and friendly manner.
-Triages phone calls appropriately.
-Completes confirmation calls and provides preparation instructions to patients.
-Faxes reports, billing information, and medical release forms as requested.
-Locates and retrieves radiology reports, operative reports and progress notes from Radiology, hospital EMR and other physician offices.
-Maintains an up-to-date and accurate database on all current and potential referring physicians.
-Maintains a cordial, positive and professional relationship with referring physician's offices.
-Checks all visits for pre-certification with patient's insurance company.
-Uses knowledge of insurance carriers (example Medicare) and procedures that require waivers to obtain authorization if needed prior to appointment.
-Handles release of information requests for patients, referring offices, other medical facilities, attorneys & insurance companies following company guidelines.
-Updating demographic and insurance information.
-Scanning documents.
-Collecting cash and credit card payments.
-Obtaining pre-certifications.
-Maintains front office lobby area by straightening magazines and assisting with general office clean up.
-Orders office supplies as needed.
-Must maintain the patient's right to privacy and be kind, courteous, sympathetic, understanding, and professional with all patients and staff.
-Required knowledge of medical terminology and medications.
-Experience in pain management is preferred but not necessary
-Experience scheduling surgeries is preferred.
-Experience using an electronic medical record is necessary.
-Helpful if knowledgeable of managed care, insurance billings, CPT and ICD-10 coding.
