The Lead Business Office Assistant (LBOA) assists the Administrator with the day to day financial operations of the surgical center. T! he LBOA is also responsible for assisting with Patient Registration and Medical Records.
Reporting Relationship: Reports to the Administrator.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Knows, adheres to, and enforces all policies of the business office
Assists with collection, billing and all financial processes
Responsible for thorough working knowledge of accounts receivable system.
Works closely with Central Business Office personnel
Reconciles the cash receipts to the deposit log
Informs the Administrator of applicable day-to-day situations
Monitors all medical records activities of the center in a manner consistent with the clinical needs of the center
Follows all equipment safety guidelines and is personally responsible for knowledgeable use and care of equipment
Assist with overall strategic planning of the surgical center and to develop and maintain policies ! & procedures and systems to minimize Days Sales Outstanding (D! SO) and the rate of bad debt and increase the productivity of related operations
Responds to regulatory agencies concerning record review and reporting.
Oversees accounts payable system and operations.
Reconciles all cash accounts monthly and submits to Administrator.
Gathers all delinquent accounts and takes to Administrator so they can be placed in collections.
Serves as liaison between central business office, insurance companies and physician office staff.
Follows employee health and other personnel and staffing policies.
Assists with environmental hazard-surveillance and participates in emergency preparedness drills.
Ensures that all claims and electronic transmissions are processed in a timely manner and records of the processing are kept current.
Reviews all refund requests and ensures that all appropriate documentation is attached prior to approval. All records should be current and org! anized.
Perform other activities as requested by the Administrator, and assume other appropriate operational responsibilities as necessary
Qualifications:
Shall be a high school graduate. Preferred previous experience working in a healthcare setting is preferred. An associate degree in business is preferred. Shall have two years experience in a medical setting such as a hospital, physicianâs office, or surgery center and experience in accounts payable and receivable. Shall have knowledge of medical terminology. Experience working with physicians is desirable.
Accountabilities & Performance Measures:
Accounts Receivable DSO and bad debt rate.
Clean compliance audits and contractual rate audits.
Record of improving billing productivity.
HIPPA Compliance maintenance.
