The duty station for this position is the John Cochran division, however it may be changed to one or multiple assocated VASTLHCS locations within the St. Louis, MO metropoli! tan area based on the needs of the medical center.

This position is part of the bargaining unit. KEY REQUIREMENTS
Must pass pre-employment examination.
Designated and/or Random Drug Testing required.
Background and/or Security Investigation required. DUTIES:
The physician/orthopedist performs Compensation and Pension Examinations for the Veterans Affairs Disability Program. The duties include examining and evaluating orthopedic function of a wide variety of designated claimed joint and spine conditions, including ROM measurement (goniometry), strength, etc. Opinions are frequently requested of the examiner pertainig to the likelihood a claimed condition is related to the veteran's active military duty. Opinions are often sought regarding the effect of the condition on the veteran's current employability. Exam reports are to be submitted electronically vi! a a specific questionaire. Typing and basic computer skills are necessary for the examiner.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The Physical requirements of this position include the following tasks which may be performed intermittently: lifting of up to 10 lbs., sitting (7-8 hours), standing (2 hours), walking (2 hours), bending/stooping (1 hour), twisting (1/2 hour), simple grasping (2 hours), fine manipulation (6 hours), reaching above the shoulder (1/2 hour), and operating machinery (1/2 hour).

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
In
order to qualify for this position you must meet the following:
Basic Requirements :
Must be
proficient in written and spoken English.
Degree of doctor of medicine
or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine
or osteopathic medicine.
! Current, full and
unrestricted license to practice medicine or surg! ery in a State,
Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of
Columbia.
