DUTIES:
The LRC will be! located at
the Jefferson Barracks Division but will spend a significant amount of their
time within the Hope Recovery Center as well as within other medical center
locations and the community.

1. The Local Recovery Coordinator (LRC) is assigned to the Mental Health Service and works closely with the ACOS of Mental Health Service.

2. The LRC serves to assist in implementation of policies and procedures from the National Recovery Coordinator(NRC) and facilitates implementation of recovery oriented services in Mental Health programs, which includes education of providers and veterans and their families on recovery.

3. The LRC is responsible for re-engagement services focused on re-engaging veterans with serious mental illness who have been lost of follow up.

4. The LRC is responsible for the recruitment, training,

direct supervision

and clinical supervision

and maintenance of competency for both paid a! nd volunteer peer support.

5. The LRC also provides direct cli! nical care to veterans with serious mental illness; at least part of this care occurs within the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Recovery Center (PRRC). Recovery services are based on a philosophy that recovery from serious mental illness is possible - the mission of the program is to nurture hope in veterans with serious mental illnesses and to assist them in their recovery journey. For all veterans, the goal is to live, learn, work and develop social relations with their local community.

6. The LRC functions as a champion and an advocate for the recovery models and as a recovery ombudsman to the Mental Health Service ACOS.

7. The LRC serves as a consultant to the Mental Health programs and to recovering veterans in development of peer support groups, consumer counseling and consumer operated services.

8. The LRC coordinates with various resources to develop an ongoing education plan for providers. This plan includes presentations about elements of r! ecovery (e.g. recovery plans) and recovery implementation by experts; presentations by recovering individuals, especially veterans; and information about community mental health support groups and other resources. 9. Responsible for coordinating the evaluation of recovery implementation at the facility and reporting results to the National Recovery Coordinator.

10. LRC participates in facility Mental Health leadership meetings and policy planning groups and will assist VA regional or local recovery oriented trainings, meeting or conferences as needed.

11. Direct clinical care service constitutes about 25% of assignment.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
1. U.S. Citizenship.

Non-citizens
may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in
accordance with VA Policy.

2. Degree of doctor of medicine or equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or ! osteopathic medicine.

3. Current, full, unrestricted license t! o practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
1. Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.

2. Educational experience plus clinical and/or research experience to qualify for an academic appointment at St. Louis University School of Medicine in St. Louis.

GRADE DETERMINATIONS:
Salary determination is conducted by compensation panel based on qualification per VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G2.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The Physical requirements of this position include the following tasks which may be performed intermittently: lifting of up to 10 lbs., sitting (4 hours), standing (2 hours), walking (2 hours), bending/stooping (1 hour), twisting (1/2 hour), simple grasping (4 hours), fine manipulation (6 hours), reaching above the shoulder (1/2 hour), and operating machinery (1/2 hour).
