The Oslo University Hospital (OUH) is one of the largest hospitals in Scandinavia. More than 50% of all biomedical research in Norway is published by researchers affiliated with OUH. Research undertaken covers basic, translational and clinical research. This is the result of the hospitals research strategy and its extensive international network cooperation, together with the Medical Faculty of University of Oslo. In this way, OUH complies with its role as national reference hospital, responsible for introducing and developing new disease preventing strategies, new diagnostic methods, new treatments and follow-up plans.

Regional Research Support (FST) (https://forskerstotte.no/) is part of the Oslo Hospital Services division at Oslo University Hospital. The unit delivers services and advice to research groups and employees at Oslo University Hospital and other hospitals that are part of the South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority. FST consist of the following 5 departments; Administrative Research Support, Oslo Center for Biostatistics & Epidemiology, Clinical Trials Unit, Biobank and Health Registry Support and Comparative Medicine. FST has approximately 120 employees and collaborates closely with a broad range of academic areas and dicliplines within the University of Oslo.

The Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) has a broad clinical research skills base and currently employs 34 staff. The CTU is today involved in 200+ clinical trials. We offer advising, courses and operational services to a wide spectrum of clinical trials within the health region. The CTU collaborates closely with Oslo Centre for Biostatistics and Epidemiology (OCBE) to support our growing portfolio of clinical trials and research within this field. The CTU has received a grant from the European Commission to co-lead the work in developing and designing the next generation COVID-19 trials in Europe, together with the French INSERM institute.

The competent candidate will be eager to build experience in clinical trials, join our cross-disciplinary teams delivering outstanding clinical trials and contribute to developing further the role of the statistician in such teams. The ideal candidate is keen to develop procedures and methodology, has already some experience from clinical research and has strong programming skills. We aim at increasing the clinical trials research activity on statistics in CTU, opening academic possibilities for PhD level CTU statisticians. You will also have the opportunity to work in other areas of biostatistics together with colleagues from other units in the health sector and from OCBE.

Kvalifikasjoner:

  • An MSc in statistics is required, and the ideal candidate has a PhD in statistics
  • Experience from statistical analysis and reporting in R, Stata or SAS is required
  • Candidates with experience from working with clinical trials will be preferred
  • Experience from statistical advising within clinical research is preferred
  • Knowledge of regulatory statistics from eg. pharmaceutical industry is preferred
  • Experience from applying statistics in medical research is preferred
  • A track record of research and development of methodology for clinical trials is preferred
  • Applicants must be able to work in a Norwegian speaking environment. Excellent English language skills is required
