Job Description
- Manage multiple experiments and projects simultaneously involving animal studies of autoimmunity and chronic infection including the development and maintenance of new transgenic mouse models, survival and non-survival surgeries, and monitoring of disease progression
- Purify high quality host and microbial DNA and RNA for metagonemic analyses.
- Isolate and purify viable lymphocytes from multiple mouse tissues including lymphoid organs, CNS, and gut.
- Flow cytometry using FACSCalibur, Cyan ADP, Fortessa X-20, and MoFlo XDP
- Fluorescent/confocal microscopy, western immunoblotting, and real-time PCR
- Chromatin immunoprecipitation, DNA and RNA sequencing, and immunohistochemistry
- Write manuscripts (all or in part) and contributing to grant applications
- Develop, validate and write new protocols; assist in laboratory management, including stocking; equipment maintenance; record keeping; database organization; inventory monitoring; meeting with technical representatives; and storage/archiving of nucleic acids, microbial, and tissue culture samples

Salary Range: $15.29-$24.52

Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience a nd at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Metagenomics
- Flow cytometry using FACSCalibur, Cyan ADP, Fortessa X-20, and MoFlo XDP
- Microscopy techniques including epifluorescence and confocal microscopy and RT-PCR
- Western immunoblotting, Chromatin immunoprecipation, and DNA/RNA sequencing.
- Animal care, survival surgery, and colony maintenance.
- Ex vivo animal cell culture
- Writing scientific literature based upon lab results and contributing to grant proposals
- Attending scientific conferences including presenting findings based upon lab results
- Coursework in cell and molecular biology, microbiology, and immunology
- Ability to work independently and with a team, keep clear, accurate and timely records, write
