INTRODUCTION: The Harry S.
Truman Memorial VeteranÂ's Hospital (HSTMVH) serves veterans throughout the
state of Missouri and a full range of primary and medical/surgical services are
offered. Patient care, research and teaching opportunities are available. The
HSTMVH is affiliated with the University of Missouri School of Medicine. Faculty
Appointment Opportunity. Faculty track and rank will be determined based on
qualifications and experience. Columbia has a population of 100,000 and is
located equal distance between St. Louis and Kansas City. Here youÂ'll find an

Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans
Hospital is seeking a full-time Staff Physician to join our staff in the
Primary Care clinic. Prefer candidate be board certified or board eligible in
Internal Medicine. The incumbent will perform exams along with all of the
services required in primary care practice. Diagnoses and advises veterans of
clinical problem discovered during an examination. Position is Monday thru
Friday, but will include ward attending which is on-call, weekends
(approximately 2 months/year).

PHYSICAL
REQUIREMENTS: The
physical requirements of this position include occasional lifting, prolonged
standing and sitting, frequent bending, walking (distance), climbing, reaching
(overhead, extensive/repetitive), repetitive motion, and stooping. The
mental/sensory requirements include recall, reasoning, problem-solving,
hearing, speaking clearly, ! writing legibly, reading, and logical thinking. The
environment's p! ace can vary from steady to a sometimes fast pace requiring
handling of multiple priorities, frequent, sometimes intense customer
interactions, and the ability to adapt to frequent changes in a sometimes noisy
environment. There may be an occasional need to use personal protective
equipment to prevent exposure to disease, illness, and hazardous materials.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
In
order to qualify for this position you must meet the following:

All individuals applying under
this announcement must meet basic qualification standards for appointment as
contained in VA Handbook 5005, Part 2, Appendix G2. This standard is available in the Human
Resources Liaison Office for review.
Candidates who meet the approp riate requirements
contained in the standard will be considered.

Citizenship : Must
be a United States Citizen (Non-citizens may be appointed when no qualified
citizens are avai! lable in accordance with current regulations).

Education: Degree
of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of
education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by
the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was
completed.

License : Current, full and unrestricted
license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth
of the United States , or in
the District of Columbia .

First-Year Residency
(Internship). Completed a first-year residency, or its
equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which
it was completed. For a VA resident, the
appropriate Deans Committee and Resident Review Board may recommend appointment
on the basis of the candidateÂ's acceptability for residency training. Completed a first-year r! esidency, or its
equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans ! Affairs for the year in which
it was completed

Physical Requirements :
Must meet
physical requirements as required by VA Directive and Handbook 5019.

English Language
Proficiency : Must be proficient in spoken and
written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d).

Drug Testing: This is a testing designated position. All applicants tentatively selected for VA
employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen
for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.

Board
certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine preferred.
